Now I lay me down, but not to sleep
Throughout the house, there’s not a peep
No sugar plums dance in my head
And worry’s feet are full of lead
He’s certainly no twinkle-toes
With all his fears of future woes
I’d prefer a partner not so dull
But it seems as if my dance card’s full
A flower up against the wall
I’d really like to leave this ball
To strike out blindly on my own
Even ending up in arms unknown
Would be better than this sorry dance
Where I sit, afraid to take a chance
And weigh the cons and all the pros
The facts and all the I don’t knows
Am I among those I can trust?
Whose love for me won’t turn to dust?
This question that I’ve put to me
Is like to be or not to be
Cuz I’m no fool, I know the score
I’ve abandoned me before
Can I love me enough for two?
I think I can, worry, how bout you?
