Now I lay me down to nap
I really didn’t need this crap
My sheets are still wet in the dryer
The timer, well, it’s just a liar
I pictured them all warm and fluffy
Not cold and limp, so now I’m huffy
I’ll just lie here while they tumble
And hope my stomach doesn’t rumble
But wait, there’s ice cream in the freezer
Sounds like heaven to some old geezer
Me, I’ll resist, with a will of steel
Remembering how good I’ll feel
When I try on all my fall clothes
I haven’t worn since heaven knows
And I can zip them up while standing
Because my size has stopped expanding
Do hurry, sheets, and finish drying
Before I find that I am lying
And my will of steel’s aluminum
My “no” becoming “yes, have some”.
Why do forks in the road always make me want to pick up a spoon?
